YogaJaya Hatha Yoga Basic Course
June Sunday Course: 4 Sundays 12:50-14:20 - June 8, 15, 22, 29
Yoga practice is an essential part of living a positive life. Over this 4-6 week course, YogaJaya will work together with the students to build the strong foundations of a regular yoga routine. This course will be taught by YogaJaya qualified top teaching instructors.
This course is designed to give the beginner an insight into the physical practice of yoga. Emphasis will be placed on the significance of the physical practice, as well as introductory explanations on how to utilize yoga for complete wellbeing.
Upon completion of the course, the student will have a solid foundation to attend YogaJaya level 1 to 3 public classes and specialized workshops.

Sample Course Curriculum:
Introduction: Outline of Yoga
– Yoga for well-being
– Importance of asana and ‘physical’ yoga
Awareness of the body and its placement in space
– Awareness of the body
– Small movements: rotating joints
Strength for stability
– Creating strength to avoid injury during practice
– Focus on core: legs, strong foundation, arms/upper body
Sun salutations: warming-up for yoga practice
– Physical benefits of combining the breath with body movement, a complete coordination of the physical body
– Outlining different types of hatha yoga: free hatha, sivananda, vinyasa
Standing and balance poses
– Builds necessary muscles and opens larger joint groups to prepare for sitting poses
– Generating positive energy, building will power and determination
Sitting poses and twists
– Grounding and slowing down in preparation for relaxation
– Freeing movement in the spine with gentle twisting postures
