Jacqueline Hargreaves has immersed herself in the study and practice of Hatha Yoga, Indian and Buddhist philosophy in various traditions including Zen, Chi Gung, Jivamukti Yoga, Yin Yoga and Iyengar Yoga. She has completed Yoga Teacher Training with Samadhi Yoga (Sydney), Yin/Yang Yoga Teacher Training with Sarah Powers (San Jose) and Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with Inspya Yoga (Byron Bay).

Jacqueline aims to integrate the ancient teachings of India with the specific subtle body anatomy of the Chinese Meridian Theory. She uses this synthesis of eastern knowledge to assist others in improving the health of internal organs, eliciting the bodyfs natural healing response and awakening ones inner wisdom.

Jacqueline approaches the teaching of Yoga with an emphasis on the meditative and healing aspects. With a particular interest in cultivating mindfulness and freedom from unnecessary tensions, Jacqueline enjoys assisting others to find a true sense of balance and vitality in the present moment. She reaches out to those caught in the difficulties of modern city life to embrace the most prized benefits of health and living in harmony with nature.

Yin Yoga Course with Jacqueline Hargreaves
Nourishing the Energetic Body

5 Sundays 12:50-14:20 - August 3, 10, 17, 24, 31

Enjoy the feelings of rejuvenation and steadiness that arise from a Yin Yoga practice. In this form of Hatha Yoga, the ancient teachings of India are integrated with the specific subtle body anatomy of the Chinese Meridian Theory. The aim is to actively nourish and harmonize the movement and distribution of chi (life force or prana) and alleviate ill health by eliciting the bodyfs natural healing response. It is a synthesis of eastern knowledge that aims at directly affecting the connective tissue (fascia, joints and ligaments) in the body, so that the health of the associated organs is improved.

As the whole body rests and opens with long hold floor poses, the natural healing power of chi is used to rejuvenate and repair the area of focus. It might be described as gtaking your acupuncturist with you to yoga!h Each week in this four-week course will focus on a different area of the body and thus a different set of internal organs:

. Kidney-Urinary Bladder with forward bending
. Liver-Gall Bladder with hip opening
. Stomach-Spleen with front body opening
. Lung/Heart-Large/Small Intestines with the shoulders, neck and upper back.

In contrast to the most commonly practiced forms of Hatha Yoga (such as the dynamic vinyasa practice of Ashtanga), Yin Yoga is taken in stillness, quietening the body in preparation for meditation. It is the prefect complement to more dynamic forms of yoga and suitable for all levels of practitioners.

Course space Limited. Confirmation by advanced booking only.
