Biography

Miho Endo

From and early age, Miho has been interested in the linkages between human beings and the universe around us. Her sensitivity to the ties between the way the universe operates and the forces at work in the human heart and mind has influenced her both positively and negatively.

After an active childhood, Miho spent her teens and university years dealing with pent-up feelings. She found that she could not escape existential questions about the meaning of life and her desire to find her own destiny in life. Starting her working life with a financial corporation, Miho finally encountered yoga in a discovery that opened the door to her introduction to her inner self.

Miho's natural body structure and a habit of daily stretching since her teens had already made her extremely flexible. As a result, the ease with which she could perform the asanas let her perceive quite quickly that "the objective of yoga is not about moving the body". Starting from her first class in Sivananda yoga, she continued with Sivananda, eventually completing a Teacher Training Course at a Sivananda ashram in Uttarkashi, northern India, in October 2007. Those three months in India further freed and strengthened Miho's mind.

Miho sees it as essential to apply one's yoga practice as a practical element in one's daily lifestyle in Japan, especially here in Tokyo -- a city of rapid change and hectic business. Miho uses yoga as a source of strength, as well as an aid to staying flexible in adapting to variations in the environment, social conditions and people in general. Miho sees everyone as being connected, as one, rather than existing as isolated beings. Teaching yoga makes Miho happy through its encouragement of individual self-realization and personal liberation. She also appreciates being able to use her exposure to her students to find new ways to remove restrictions to maintaining a completely open mind.
